Capri Gelato & Coffee Bar

Updated: Oct 22, 2020

ABOUT

Opening: October 2020

Locations: 1 location in Marina del Rey, CA

Team: Remi Zimmerman, Robert Mahler, Mary Mahler

Store designer: Built Inc.

CONCEPT

The idea of bringing Capri Gelato to California was born because the owner wanted to share his family memories of sampling the best Italian ice-cream in Capri with his friends here in LA.

He assembled an all-star team consisting of ice-cream chefs, coffee connoisseurs and restaurant branding-experts to develop over 100 authentic Italian gelato and sorbetto recipes.

All menu items are made from scratch the Italian way and highlight flavors you would find strolling around the island of Capri, from Amalfi Coast Lemon Sorbetto, to Torta Caprese Gelato.

Just like wine and cheese, gelato is only half as good without espresso. Capri’s coffee bar serves fair trade coffee by Copa Vida and celebrates fine Italian blends with a California twist.

Capri Gelato was first launched in 2019 as a catering business bringing its homemade ice cream to the Golden Globes. And after further developing the concept, they returned to the 2020 Golden Globes serving gelato and artisanal coffee to the stars.

TREND

Authenticity – Happiness – Honesty

Even though “authenticity” has become an overused buzzword, customers are still looking for products and experiences with a story. If you can’t travel to Italy right now, this delicious gelato with authentic Italian ingredients and flavors is the next best thing. When you enter the Capri Gelato store, the colorful ice-cream pops out at you and if you close your eyes, the aroma of freshly brewed espresso transports you straight to Italy.

The feeling of being on vacation for a moment, that is the happiness the customer comes to Capri Gelato & Coffee Bar for.
